Modalities Investment FAQ

Modalities

Based on your needs, I use a combination of the following modalities in therapy:

  • Integrative Mental Health promotes a healthy gut-brain connection, healthy sleep, and physical wellbeing.

  • Cognitive-behavioral therapy helps recognize unhelpful patterns in thinking and behaviors.

  • Solution-Focused Brief Therapy focuses on where you’re going, not just where you’ve been.

  • Mindfulness helps us shift to a more present focus, not on the worries of tomorrow or the pain of the past.

  • EMDR - Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing is an extensively researched method proven to help people recover from trauma and other distressing life experiences.

(Using these same modalities, child therapy is conducted in a playful and engaging manner based on your child’s needs.)

A different approach

Using proven therapies that recognize that the entire body is connected, we WILL improve your emotional symptoms. Medicine has been shifting toward a functional approach, and now mental health is too. There is tons of research showing the impact our gut microbiome and lifestyle have on our mood and well-being. So listen to your gut, and let’s get you happy (and healthier as a bonus).

Modern mental healthcare

Having the option for in-person or online therapy allows for more flexibility, convenience, and access. The outcomes of online therapy have been proven as effective as in-person therapy, without the commute! Let’s drop the stigma attached to mental health, we all experience times in our lives when we need a little support…let’s also drop the notion of spending years lying on a couch being analyzed by someone with a notepad! Modern, convenient, confidential, and effective.

Investment

YOU are the best investment you will ever make!

Did you know your insurance might help cover the cost of therapy, even if we’re not in your insurance network? Many plans offer out-of-network benefits, which means you could get reimbursed for a portion of each session. And, you don’t have to figure this out on your own. We can check your benefits for you and let you know exactly what you’d pay per session before we even get started. If you have out of network insurance benefits, you may only owe a small copay at each session instead of the full fee.

Therapy

In-person or online sessions designed to work together to process and explore thoughts, behaviors, and goals to live a happier life. Learn the skills to quiet your anxious mind and find peace within your head or family. We can also incorporate integrative mental health education and interventions. Typically, meetings are weekly or bi-weekly. Fun and engaging sessions are also available for children. (See FAQs below for insurance and out of network benefit coverage.)

You have a right to a “Good Faith Estimate” of estimated total service costs under the No Surprises Act of 2022

FAQ

Use the form below to submit your information and we will check your out of network benefits and get back to you

Do you take insurance?

We currently accept self-pay, Aetna, Quest Behavioral Health, and most BCBS insurance plans. Currently, only Jessica is accepting most Tricare plans. If you don’t have the insurance companies listed above, we also use a service that automates reimbursement for your therapy sessions through out-of-network benefits.

It is important to note that through self-payment, no documentation or diagnoses are required to be submitted to insurance companies for reimbursement. This adds an extra layer of confidentiality for you.

Why do you just work with women & children?

No offense at all to the men in our lives, but my training and background has been primarily in women’s issues, so I have chosen to focus on continuing to provide services solely to address women’s issues, and their little ones!

Is online therapy as effective and private?

The effectiveness of online therapy versus in-person therapy has been proven as effective by countless studies over the past decade. I use a HIPPA compliant video platform with no ability for either of us to record or replay sessions. Online therapy works well for those with a busy schedule or who wish to limit the need for extra commutes. It gives you more flexibility, access, and ease in getting the support you deserve!

What is the difference between an EMDR therapist and an EMDRIA trained or certified therapist?

Anyone (including unlicensed professionals) can take a training on EMDR. Unfortunately, many of these trainings are short, basic skills overviews and do not provide the same in-depth training, consultation, and application skills that EMDRIA (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing International Association) trainings require. EMDRIA trainings have the highest standard of training for masters-level and above, fully licensed clinicians. These trainings consist of over 40 hours of training and 10 hours of consultation with a certified professional. Certification through the EMDRIA adds additional advanced trainings, consultation, and supervised practice of EMDR with clients.

What equipment will I need for online therapy?

Just YOU …well, and a high-speed internet connection, a smartphone, tablet, or computer with a webcam, and a private space.

I already know food affects my mood, so how would this be helpful for me?

We know we can get grumpy when we’re hungry or sluggish after certain meals. But the gut-brain connection goes way beyond this. Our gut microbiome actually creates many of the neurotransmitters that send signals to our brain, so what we feed our gut, feeds our brain as well. We’ll work together to determine what foods best feed your brain to help alleviate your mental health symptoms.
